I've had brief correspondences recently with a few other readers on Bickerton's *Language and Species*, and have made a mild com- mitment to condense it down to three paragraphs for these newsgroups. While I'm circling around that chore, please note that another more-or-less distinguished publisher has a contri- bution to the "How did we get here?" parlor game: Lieberman, Philip 1991. Uniquely Human. Harvard University Press, ... The "Subject:" line above is the subtitle.
