[talk.religion.misc] Who was that masked diety?

GIZ@PSUVM.BITNET (09/19/86)

Another log to throw on the fire:
There is a gap of documentation/oral tradition about Big C between
12 and 30ish.
Interestingly enough, there are MANY folks who wrote books about that time...
Mostly claiming DIVINE inspiration. Source? Oh... That's another point of
argument... Anyway, these folks subscribe to the view that Jesus spent his
birth gifts on a wide education in India, Tibet, and parts east. Very Smart....
What if HE really did want his followers to do a 'Buddhist' type lifestyle?
Remember Paul and Peter didn't get along too well. Maybe ole Paul twisted the
budding Church into a caricature of Judaism?
He certainly had strange ideas on HAIR! I don't think Jesus would've passed
Paul's tests for the PROPER dress code.

Now we gaze into the past and compare lifestyles of the masked Diety and his
?Faithful? companion P(S)aul:
Big C exhorts crowd: Hey, don't worry about stuff. Hang out, be cool and love.
Remember-YOU can be one with the Father like me. Yep! YOU,too! And you don't
even have to DIE! Be one with the Spirit. Yeah...
P(S)aul exhorts crowd: Follow the rules...share with the brethren...watch
out for hair balls in the crowd...oh, yeah...love everybody-except those
sinners over there...Tithe mightily...Women: cover that sinful mop of hair
and men better cut theirs short.

Big C hangs out with dregs and other party hardies. P(S)aul hangs out with the
'virtuous'. ICK.

This is getting to be too much. I guess I've strayed from the focus.

Focus: Jesus was a man who reunited with the Father. As other Avatars (fancy
Hindu word for folks like Jesus), he exhorted folks to do likewise and get
reunited. Current Christian Dogma stresses an afterdeath reward for the best
ruleplayers. Christian controversy over different rules of the game will
continue until everyone realizes the game was called. Frankly, Jesus didn't
give a hoot for ruleplayers. He wanted folks who remembered they were immortal
spirits encased in gross matter.
All this fuss with 'resurrections' and 'forgiveness' and other emotionally
charged words obscures the main theme: Christians are pawns of their own
power brokers and manipulators disguised as Preachers pounding the bible.

My experience with so-called Christian love soured me. When I was a youthful
idealist, I worked as a volunteer in a crisis intervention youth center.
The group was a living family of loving souls who cared about their fellows.
The love was so thick-you could bliss out on it. Most folks who came for help
grew and became happier. It certainly was one of the most happy times in my
memory.
Then it happened...
A small group of 'born-again' Christians decided to be 'Christian' and 'help'
us poor heathens. First it was :let's share. Then it was: Well, YOU must be
wrong 'cause you're not 'born-again'. In short, the magnificent loving family
was shattered into 'b-a Xtians' and 'heathens'. If fracturing TRUE loving
spirits is the best 'Born-Agains' can offer, no wonder HASA types are wary.

Perhaps Christians are intolerant of other groups that demonstrate Love
because they are jealous and insecure in their own beliefs.
They certainly spend alot of time and effort yapping about it.
