SPACED OUT?- Reports have it that Eddie Murphy will provide comic
relief in 'Star Trek IV'- but the most that director Leonard Nimoy will
concede is "I'll admit to the fact that Eddie Murphy has said he's a
great Star Trek fan."
The next plot line, as related by insiders: A convenient time-travel
twist allows the Start Trek team to save the enterprise (It was blown to
smithereens in 'Start Trek III'), which journeys to Earth circa 1990 and
has a close encounter with Murphy - portraying himself.
In other interviews, Nimoy has said 'Star Trek IV' will "lighten up and
have some fun," but he denied the storyline rumors - amidst gales of
laughter in his Paramount office: "Our storyline will pick up almost
exactly where 'Start Trek III' left off... though our crew will need a
ship."
Murphy, under exclusive contract to Paramount dosn't have a movie yet
to follow the monster success of 'Beverly Hills Cop', but Nimoy added:
"I doubt there's a film on this lot that wouldn't like to employ the
talents of Eddie Murphy. But we haven't discussed casting yet, just
characterizations."
