The purpose of this message is to announce the creation of
a new newsgroup, mod.sources.games. Postings in this group
will be public-domain game sources, with the main orientation
being C programs for Unix machines.
Advantages of the new group include better distribution and
propagation, a higher (near-infinite?) signal-to-noise
ratio, and archiving of postings at several sites around
the world.
The group will follow the same structure as the present
mod.sources, and is in fact being run by the same person,
Rich Salz at Mirror Systems (mirror!rs).
Initial postings plan to include the latest version of
hack, and the fortune programs and latest database.
The first posting will take place some days after the
newgroup message has been sent out, in order to give
sites a chance to iron out any problems with their feeds.
To submit sources, send mail to mirror!games; requests
for missing pieces, etc., should go to mirror!games-request.
