[mod.announce] IEEE members: for once your vote is important!

geoff@desint.uucp (Geoff Kuenning) (09/01/86)

IEEE members who, like me, tend to ignore elections because they
don't know any of the candidates should take note of the current contest.

Two of the candidates for president-elect (who will eventually become
president of the IEEE) are pretty much the standard fare. The third is
Irwin Feerst, who has long been known as a dedicated fighter against
age discrimination and for engineer's rights. If Mr. Feerst is elected,
I suspect that he will have a major effect on the direction of the IEEE.
Thus, for once, the election will be meaningful.

This is your chance to make your voice heard. If you have *any*
interest at all in the direction of the IEEE, please take the time to
vote in this election. Let's not have such an important issue decided
by default! Your ballot will arrive in early September--watch for it.

I suggest that discussion of this election, if any, take place in net.politics.
