I would like to appeal to the net at large for moderation in use of other sites, particularly backbone sites, for sending mail. We have already seen how overuse, combined with a change in administration, has made ihnp4 less reliable for mail. Quite aside from the news load, machines like seismo carry an enormous amount of mail traffic. As more and more people rely on the backbones as primary mail transport mechanisms, the chances of a breakdown grow, as do the effects. Please: if you're sending large quantities of mail (e.g., sources), try to establish a direct connection with your recipient's site. It's not fair to abuse intervening sites' hospitality in this way. And if you're sending non-important mail (e.g., chitchat, games, or other leisure matters), find out whether there's a route to your recipient which makes less use of the overworked backbones. A little tour through mod.map, without pathalias' help, can be informative. Thank you.
