Since then, the personal computer has become a significant factor. More importantly, other languages and operating environments have begun to offer facilities that until recently were the sole province of APL. Features such as array handling and interactive debugging facilities are being found in both interpretive and compiled languages. This new competition has caused improvements in APL's environments. The conference will focus on this maturing process and will contemplate possible futures. There will be three main themes: APL as an Application Development System, APL and its environment, Future Developments in APL Plus two minor themes: Industry Specific Papers, Graphics Deadlines: Nov 15, 1986: Completed papers (four copies, in English) due to Program Chairman for blind refereeing. March 1, 1987: Camera-ready copy of papers to be included in Proceedings. Send responses to the Program Chairman or to APL87 via IPSA or STSC Program Chairman: Conference Chairman: Frank Cavallito John R.
