         Conference Theme: Effective Software Practices

   This conference is dedicated to the promotion of software quality.
The fifth annual conference will provide a forum for the presentation 
and discussion of topics relating to effectively producing quality
software.  The conference will include refereed papers to be presented 
by the author(s), panel discussions, exhibits by software vendors and
related workshops.  Expected attendance is 400 professionals and 
researchers from industry, government, and academia.

   Authors are invited to submit an abstract to be considered for
presentation at the 1987 conference.  All papers fitting the general
theme of the conference are solicited.  This year's conference will be
organized to highlight three general themes relating to Effective
Software Practices as follows:

Authors: Submit a one-page abstract by May 15, 1987  which will be the basis 
for selection of papers.  Abstracts should be 250-500 words long, containing 
enough detail to give reviewers an understanding of the proposed material.  
Include, on a separate page, brief biographical sketches of each author, 
complete mailing address, electronic mail address (if applicable), 
and telephone numbers.

Papers and respective presentations may vary in length according to 
anticipated interest in the material presented.  Typical presentations will 
be 30, 60, or 90 minutes long (which include a question and answer period).
Authors are to submit a camera-ready copy of their paper by September 4, 1987.
