[mod.music.gaffa] Joy joy joy, my posters at last

alfke@csvax.caltech.edu (J. Peter Alfke) (08/28/86)

Organization:

My friend Diana, the sweetest person in the entire world, just sent me from
England (where she's vacationing) the 23 ENVELOPE POSTER SET and it contains
12x20 (approx) posters of the following bits of loveliness:

Cocteau Twins Head Over Heels / Sunburst and Snowblind
			Pearly-Dewdrops' Drops
			Treasure
			Aikea-Guinea
Tiny Dynamine / Echoes in a Shallow Bay
			Victorialand
Colourbox Colourbox
Modern English Someone's Calling
			Ricochet Days
Le Mystere des Voix Bulgares
Richenel l'Esclave Endormi
This Mortal Coil	16 Days
			It'll End in Tears
Xmal Deutschland	Incubus Succubus II
Xymox Clan of Xymox

Yum yum. These aren't exact copies of the album covers, my guess is that they
used to be the kind of posters that record stores get for new releases (not
that any US record stores would get these kind of things...). Now the only
question is whether I have enough wall space.

I, for one, thought "The Company of Wolves" was one of the very best fantasy
films I'd ever seen, one of the only to address sexuality in a real way.
As for "how many times can you retell Little Red Riding Hood", I figure that
you can probably retell a myth an infinite number of times, after all it's a
myth ain't it? And they did work with the *original* LRRH myth (oooh, I'm so
cool now for acronyming!) instead of the cleaned-up version that passes for
a fairy-tale these days.

It transcended the shitty shopping-mall shoebox I saw it in. Of course I
missed it when it came to the Nuart theater (but I was in Venice at the time
so I don't mind so much :-> )

@@@@@@@@@@

Who or what the hell is "Princess Tinymeat" ?? I have seen two of his/her
records in the last week, and they both have kind of, um, disturbing covers.
Anyone familiar with this, uh, recording artist?

And while I'm in a request sorta mood, a friend of a friend claims to have
recently seen (at Tower Sunset) an XTC CD of a previously unknown album
covered with unknown tracks. I sez, "????!!!!".
