[mod.music.gaffa] KB's Lionheart

Being a KB fan (not fanatic, mind you) for a few years, I decided it was time
to finally get the one album of hers I was missing: Lionheart. Went to a
few record stores here in Baltimore and this one album was always a dollar
or so more than all the rest, usually $9.49-9.99 when her others were $8.49
or less. So I decided to check around a bit more -- same thing everywhere!

"What is the reason for this?!", I said aloud in one store. "Oh", said the
guy working there, "her record company signed Paul McCartney a while back
and they raised the prices on lots of albums so they could afford him. They
figured that Lionheart was KB's most popular album and that they could get
more money for it." Is this true? I realize that all record companies must
do this to some degree, but so blatantly and selectively? And to involve our
dear Katie and her devout fan(atic)s?

I probably should have just paid the extra buck and forgot about it, but now
it's the principle of the thing. (I did manage to find the record and tape it.)
