[mod.music.gaffa] uranium in the Bush

John Rossi's observations on the sexual imagery in the song "The
Dreaming", which is in addition to the political message, cannot be
totally discounted. After all, in the video Kate and her fellow
dancers do masterbate a laser beam, and when she sings "pull of the
Bush", her fellow dancers do pull on her. On the other hand, his
accusation that Kate's depiction of the destruction of the Aborigine
culture is inaccurate is unsupportable. Just like the native American
cultures in the United States and most "primitive" cultures throughout
the world, the Aborignal culture in Australia is in serious peril.
Kate is not just singing off of the top of her head; she lived in
Australia for a year. Furthermore, Rolf Harris, who is well-known to
be quite familiar with Aborigine culture, helped with the song.

I't shocks me, somewhat that a Kate tune can be interpreted as having more
than a vague symbolic meaning. You mean, TD is really about Australia and
'The Bush' as opposed to Kate's pubic area which, largely, remains un-
exposed. I guess my only comment about this is that English pop stars of
Irish extraction should get the complete facts before declaring the demise
of a beautiful race of people. Even PG had the good sense to do a political
(BIKO) tune with some factual historical content. At least the Ausatralians
didn't buy into the 'total Reservation trip'. You see, as a self proclaimed
expert sexual symbolism expert (and professional Psychologist), I was under
the impression that TD was a song about Kate's latent exhibitionist tendencies
wherupon in a dream she 'bangs a 7 foot tall marsupial' and exposes her
pubic region to some very black men hiding behind trees who find her
irrestable 'and can't avoid the pull of the bush'. Well, I guess we all can
have remote fantasies.

Pardon the sexual implicdations of the preceeding paragraph if your offended.
Those of you who are of the old school Catholic faith can redeem yourselves
by saying a good act of contrition which, I believe, is worth about 100 or so
ejaculations (sic).
