Well, lots of people scooped me on identifying the Mushroom Planet
books (I've been busy lately), but perhaps I can save face. The
author was Eleanor Cameron, and altogether, were 5 books in the
series:
THE WONDERFUL FLIGHT TO THE MUSHROOM PLANET (1954)
STOWAWAY TO THE MUSHROOM PLANET (1956)
MR. BASS'S PLANETOID (1958)
A MYSTERY FOR MR. BASS (1960)
TIME AND MR. BASS (1967)
All were published by Little, Brown, and they have been kept in print
by the publisher since. For those in the Boston area, you can find them
(I know, because I've seen them there) at the New England Mobile Book
Fair in Newton.
