[mod.music.gaffa] something for all...

Birdsongs of the Mesozoic @ dc space, 9/25/86.

These dudes must like to start early, they started a half an hour
before they were suppossed to, thereby making people who showed up
on time to miss some goodies. this is a show for to review greg,
you can use all sorts of musical metaphors to explain these guys.
I don't try to. There cool as shit, and that's that. They don't
do Steely Dan covers. They do cover Stravinsky. They don't do
"whipping post" yet, but they're working on it. They still do
Rocky and Bullwinkle, complete with tapes of Rocky. They claim to have
a new album out, but since no one has seen it, they can't validate that
claim. They do have cheap ($$.$$ wise) shirts for sale, so labovitz
bought me one cause he owed me money. they do take checks. They
don't use anti-perpisepent. They do drink beer. They do
make great noises with a guitar. They do use hupcaps and washboards
as percussion instruments. They do not sound like jesus and mary
wankoff. They are cool. They are worthy of checking out.
They don't tour that much.

Next Show: Eugune Chadbourne, the unhippest hipster in years, Oct 5.

And Wicinski was telling me last year that I should have given Kate a
Husker Du album rather than the Birdsongs album I gave her... In any
case, Birdsongs of the Mesozoic do indeed have a relatively new record
out. It's a six track EP called *Beat of the Mesozoic* and is on Ace
of Hearts Records. As you might expect it's wicked gnarly -- not to
mention way postmodern.
