I just saw the Woodentops live last night (Paradise theatre, 10/29/86)
and they were fantastic! They were tight, energetic, showed and incredible
range of styles, and left me quite impressed. I think I like them live
even better than I like their records, which I like quite alot... Go see
them if you get a chance!
XTC update : Send letter bombs to Geffen. 'Skylarking' was released in
the UK last week. Geffen (a subsidiary of Warner Bros.) is holding off
domestic release until DECEMBER FIRST! It is likely that they will be
pressuring importers to keep the foriegn versions out of the country too, so
that they can release an inferior package whenever they want and know that
the fans will be forced to buy theirs. So much for free trade and the
benefits of a competitive marketplace... (Disclaimer : the preceding
call to violent action should not be taken as useful advice. It is merely
the ranting of an incensed fan of XTC).
