Severed Heads/Skinny Puppy, 12/11, the Stone, SF, CA, USA

Severed Heads sucked. Dull discodirge, uninspired video. Dumb.
Not worth further comment, just two guys to avoid in the future.

Skinny Puppy also sucked, although at least somewhat harder.
This band consists mainly of masses of carefully ravaged
moussilated hair and, of course, ever-present fog effects.
They do a fair job of manipulating their sound, but the
music is as predictable and uninteresting live as on vinyl.
I must admit, I did admire the singer's lean arm musculature,
however, arms do not make a band, especially when their owner
seems all too vainly aware they are a major feature of his
stage presence.

The performance was contrived and without substance. I have
seen better attempts at macabre presentations by freshman art
students, which isn't saying much for the art students.

Even the most wavoid deathclones looked more bored than their
usual posed attempts at vacuity.

The high point of the evening was a between-set showing of gorgeous
videos of SRL. I'd like to see what that gang would do with a couple
of synthesizers...
