I was so excited about Birdsongs I figured I had to write a review,
especially since other people on mod.music.gaffa expressed an interest
in Birdsongs. I played Beat of the Mesozioc for my brother and his
comment was that this is the direciton progressive music should be going
in. I was also impressed with their stage presence. They are
definitely serious about what they're doing and could easily appear
self-indulgent (sorry, this is word used too often in reviews of
progressive music) but they don't. They sort of treat a gig as a practice,
kidding around with each other and the audience, and their stage
presence is very relaxed. I was thinking Beat of the Mesozoic, Part I
would make a great video - especially with the visual movement going on
during the percussion section. Perhaps a video by Zbigniew Brezinski
(sp?) - I like what he did with Art of Noise and Dave Brubeck's "Take
Five".

Happy bird watching,

Ed
