Just got the Triangulus CD. Interesting stuff - Swedish prog/new age
featuring a very talented saw player (yeah, SAW PLAYER, you know...the kind
of people who always seem to show up on the Tonight Show, along with the
101 year old karate fan). Great opening track ("Exquisite"), but the rest
of the stuff isn't quite as good.
Also just got David Torn's CLOUD ABOUT MERCURY, featuring Bruford,
Levin, and Isham (sorry, no Fripp here). Kind of like Eddie Van Halen meets
King Crimson, with Miles sitting in doing a sort of half-assed fill in job.
Not bad, but no real grooves developing here. Torn's style is quite
derivative of Van Halen and Holdsworth, but then again, isn't everyone's
nowadays?
Still awaiting news about Dif Juz CDs...
