Really-From: hsu%uicsrd.CSRD.UIUC.EDU@a.cs.uiuc.edu (William Tsun-Yuk Hsu) New Butthole Surfers has finally made its way to Champaign. On first listen sounds extremely deranged, self-indulgent and experimental. They mangle Black Sabbath, Bulgarian folk songs, etc. Review soon... The cuts on God's Favorite Dog sound like Cocteau Twins compared to this. I haven't decided if I like the new stuff tho. There's a new Ralph Records compilation with fake folk music (kind of) from Negativland, Club Foot, Rhythm and Noise and other eccentric west coast bands. The Negativland cut is pretty funny. Anyone know of new Negativland projects? (Allyn?) (BTW, Ian is not listed in the Negativland credits.) New Meat Puppets promo is more soft jangly guitars pop. Yawn. Bill
