[mod.comp-soc] Changing topics...

taylor@hplabsc.UUCP (Dave Taylor) (08/29/86)

Well! Starting the discusion on Ethics and Work has certainly been
most interesting! However, it has rather quickly left the sedate, logical
discussions of personal views of technology and society and moved into other
areas. These areas are most certainly of great relevence to our daily lives,
HOWEVER...they don't fit in with the goals of the Computers and Society
mailing list and newsgroup.

Consequently as of about two days ago I've stopped accepting articles talking
about The Ethics of Work entirely. This is regardless of *what* the author
has to say.

Some people are miffed, feeling that I didn't give the "other side" a chance
to present their views. Sorry 'bout that.

If someone is interested, perhaps we can start a "CPSR" (Computer Professsionals
for Social Responsibility) mailing list or something - drop me a note if you
need more help on the logistics/software/whatever).

If you feel strongly that either this was the RIGHT thing for me to do, or if
you feel strongly that I'm doing the WRONG thing, drop me a note. We can be
pretty democratic here! What the heck!

More interesting topics soon...(mail 'em in!!)
