I recently noticed Jac Colby's "review" of Creative MicroSystems'
KickStart Eliminator and a few questions came to mind. Perhaps someone
from Commodore would care to comment.
1) What is Commodore's official position regarding this product,
i.e., is it considered a valid way to upgrade an Amiga to a
ROM?
2) Will Commodore be releasing a similar upgrade kit in the near
future? If so, how soon and about how much will it cost?
3) Does anyone know if the Creative Microsystems modification will
accept the Commodore ROMs for future releases? Is the ROM
they are supplying the same as the ROM being shipped in the
newer Amigas?
4) Will the modification cause any problems with external devices
that conform to the expansion bus standard? Other than not
auto-configuring, does anyone know of any problems in general
with this modification?
I apologize if these questions have already been answered, but I only
get to read the INFO-AMIGA conference, which doesn't appear to contain
all of the comp.sys.amiga discussion. Given this, it might be a good
idea to email responses directly to me, and I'll summarize to the net if
there appears to be enough interest.
Thanks,
Scott
