Dear Amigans, I'm contemplating to port our economic modelling package to the Amiga. It's written in strict F77 (ANSI X3.9-1978). It consists of 60 main programs, and 320 subroutines, 2.6mb of source code. It's currently running on VAX/VMS, Prime, NAS, Amdahl. The system is developped on a VAX/VMS where we keep all subroutines in an object library. I believe the largest executable would use about 3.1mb, but as we get only 1mb as working space, it pages a bit. A typical simulation uses 5 mins on a VAX 8600 or 25 mins on a VAX 750. I believe we need to expand a standard Amiga by 4 or 6 mb memory and a 20 mb hard disk. Questions: 1) Are there any other F77 compilers besides Absoft? 2) Is the Absoft Fortran compiler F77 standard? 3) Does the compiler (Absoft or any other) handle really large arrays, like real*4 NonZeroes(200000)? 4) Are those large arrays actually stored in the executable file or allocated at run-time? 5) Does a linker come with the compiler? 6) Does the linker handle libraries? 7) Are there any difficulties with the compiler/linker recognising memory expansions/hard disks? PLEASE MAIL ANSWERS TO ME, NOT TO THIS LIST! WE DON'T RECEIVE comp.sys.amiga BECAUSE IT'S TOO VOLUMINOUS (read expensive). Wouldn't it be nice if CBM could sponsor the costs of getting this list to .au? Many thanks, Michael Bednarek (u3369429@murdu.oz.au) "POST NO BILLS"
