We wanted to use EFS (which our 3.0 release notes said was supported) to put our on line manuals on one machine. (We have 23 5500s networked together, seemed a shame to waste so much disk with redundant information.) Anyway, I couldn't get it to work. After checking around the system I noticed that there was no efsdaemon anywhere to be found so I called our Masscomp rep in San Jose. He said that EFS was a "non-product", that they were unable to get all the bugs out so they were going to go to using NFS and that it would not be ready in the next little while. If I remember correctly he indicated that it would be a year or so. I solved the manual problem with a shell script which uses rsh to call up the manual pages remotely after making sure the "manual-host" is up. If it's of value to you I can mail it to you. - Mark Dyer {decwrl,dual,ihnp4}!{amdcad!cae780,sun!sunncal}!leadsv!markd
