I'm looking for other users of X on MassComp equipment. We managed to
get the Version 10 X tape from MassComp only to find a doc file that
said:
"When X is running on the system, all graphic terminals on the same
machine must also run X. Also when X is running no program that have
been built with sp-40 (mgi) or sp-43 (win) will work."
This is a big show stopper for us. We have extensive sp-40 & sp-43
programs written. We had hoped to bring up X on one graphic terminal
and start converting while the rest of the system was using the old
graphics.
Since the graphics processors are loaded one at a time it is not obvious
why the X Windows & SP-40/SP-43 can't co-exsist. We may even try to
configure the system this way if no one can tell us why it will not
work. Currently we are fighting hardware/software problems from adding
two Aurora 12 plane GPs to go along with the two 10 planes grayscale GPs
we already had so we have to get the system stable again before trying
anything.
Any help or suggestions???
