Masscomp has released the "mid-life kicker" for the low end of the
Masscomp MC5000 line. The MC5X50 {where X=3,4,5) are now available.
The big difference is the clock speed of the MC68020 CPU. The MC 5350
CPU runs at 16.7 MHz (vs 12.5 on the 5300) and the MC5440 and MC5550
CPUs run at 20Mhz. I have not seen an annoucement of higher CPU speeds
for the MC5600 or MC5700 computers.
These annoucements are similar to others by other supermicro manufacturers
using the 68020. The MC5X00 products continue to be available. I don't
know the cost difference between the two lines.
