In an alternate life, I have need for a 68008 board with a monitor and rs232 connection. Motorola doesn't appear to make such a beast. Does anyone out there tell me if such exists and where to look?

There are several such beasts--Hazelwood Computers makes one, as does an outfit in Oregon called Emerald Computers. I don't have addresses--your best bet is to look at any recent issue of *68 Micro Journal*, a magazine, by the way, which I HIGHLY recommend to 68K folks. James Jones (Some people tell me that they can find it at B. Dalton's--I guess I'll have to beat on the local store. Alas, I don't have *68 MJ*'s address with me, but it's been posted to--gack! was that USENET or CompuServe?--recently. I'll dig it up if needed.)
