Laurier Lecture Series 1989-90 Dr. Charles Burton will speak on "The Tiananmen Massacre and China's Political Future" Monday, October 2, 1989 4 p.m. Theatre Auditorium Wilfrid Laurier University Dr. Burton is a specialist in Chinese politics, history, society, and culture at Brock University. Fluent in Chinese, he lived and studied in China from 1978 to 1981. Dr. Burton has a deep understanding of the current crisis in China and has made concrete proposals for effective political change. In the context of the decline of communist parties throughout the world, Dr. Burton will discuss the causes of recent events in China and will provide an analysis of China's political future. Dr. Burton has studied at the University of Alberta, Fudan University in Shanghai, Cambridge University, the University of Toronto, and Carleton University.
