We seem to have a rash lately of the following: a) Source is posted to net.sources, it is BSD-specific. b) Author/poster then posts a SV-compatible version (bravo!, by the way) c) Author/poster then posts oodles of bug fixes, but either 1) doesn't tell you which version s/he is fixing, or 2) only posts fixes for the BSD version. If you post different versions of a tool/game/whatever, please indicate VERY clearly in the bug fixes what it is you are fixing -- this is particularly true on fixes that are designed to be ed(1) scripts or patch(1L) scripts; since they do very strange things or nothing at all to the wrong source. One suggestion is to save a copy of the article identifier (that's the one that says <1234@mysite.ARPA> or whatever, and reference it when you post bug fixes/enhancements to net.sources.bugs. Thanks for your time, and remember -- net.sources is JUST for sources; let's keep the discussions in here! -- The MAD Programmer -- 919-228-3313 (Cornet 291) alias: Curtis Jackson ...![ ihnp4 ulysses cbosgd mgnetp ]!burl!rcj ...![ ihnp4 cbosgd akgua masscomp ]!clyde!rcj
