Here are the final results in the recycled song title poll. Many thanks to all the music lovers who participated! The results are: 1. Gloria (10) This doesn't even count the various cover versions. This surprises me -- aside from my aunt, I don't even know anyone named Gloria! 2. Heartbreaker (8 + 1) One close call is the tie breaker, namely Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo (Heartbreaker) from the Stones. This title was my prediction to begin with. Well, I was close. 3. Lady (8) 4. Call Me (7 + 1 close call) 5. Tell Me Why (7) 6. Fire (6) and many with 4 or 5. I was surprised by the number of multi-word titles. For two word titles, we have Hold On and Mirror Man following Call Me. For three, there are many: Tell Me Why, then Hey Little Girl, I Love You, and I'm a Man with 5 each. Other trivia: Rick Kulawiec points out I invented a Patty Smith, when we really have Patti Smith and Patty Smyth...maybe we need a recycled names poll (no! not really!). Alan Parsons Project contributes more songs to the list than any other artists with Games People Play, Step by Step, and Time. Let's be a little more original, Al! And interestingly, all of the top six titles suggest some aspect of romantic relationships. (I would say male-female relationships, but Patti Smith's Gloria makes at least one exception.) The CALL ME by P.J.Soles and the Ramones is the same one. As a matter of fact, I believe that the R&R High School album has them singing it together. -Ron

It's kinda obvious how much respect the Airplane/Starship gets on this net. They have songs entitled "Fire" and "All night long", both on the _Earth_ album. BTW, this is the same album that contained "Runaway", so people have at least heard of it. As far as I can tell, they aren't remakes, but original songs. Just thought that I'd update the FINAL word on it ... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Andy Banta {decvax!allegra!ihnp4}!pur-ee!pucc-k!agz Dept. of Mental Instability, Purdue University --- "I'm OK, You're a CS Major" ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "New York, LA Times, Rock n' Roll Magazine said we couldn't make it, But here we come again ...
