Perhaps the news software should automatically control
where followups go to. I gather the "Followup-To:" control
line helps (or whatever it is called). Perhaps all postings to all.sources
should AUTOMATICALLY generate a "Followup-To: all.sources.d" line in
the posting.

Perhaps there should be a way to configurably prevent followups
in certain groups altogether? (just like the y/n field in the active
field for allowing postings)

News 2.10.3 "knows" about all.sources anyway (along with all.jokes...),
so this is no more a hack than thats already there...

It should all be configurable - NOT hard-coded into the sources.
News should have a config file like ... sendmail.cf (ugh, but
at least its very general) - at the moment, binaries can't be ported
to machines that live in different domains even.

Getting it changed would obviously take considerable time... ho hum

ps: I love the message: "Are you sure this is really source?" when
    you post to net.sources.d !!
