Yesterday I saw and played with a Mac that had been upgraded with the new ROMs and the 800K disk drive. It was upgraded at a local dealer here in Ann Arbor on Monday (3/17). With the upgrade, he received System 3.0 and Finder 5.1. With his Mac Pascal upgrade, however, he received System 3.1 and Finder 5.2. Talk about standard versions! In any event, as far as I could tell, it acted just like the real Macintosh Plus (excepting memory) and the pre-release upgraded Macintosh I've used. I didn't disassemble the ROMs or anything to see if they're the same, but considering that the already released MacPlus's have masked ROMs, it's doubtful they've changed them so quickly (as has been muchly rumored of late). In any event, he has had several problems, particularly with disk initialization. -Roy.
