Has anyone out there on the net figured how to get the new 130XE version of SynCalc(R) to load? I recently purchased it and am trying to load it on a normal Atari system. I.e. 130XE with a 1050 disk drive. I understand that it (SynCalc) is extremely sensitive to drive speeds due to the copy protection scheme. I have three different 1050 drives, none of which will load SynCalc with any degree of reliability. When I learned of its susceptibility to RPM, I fine tuned all three. I have one drive set so that it consistently is at 288 RPM which is the nominal RPM for a 1050. The other two drives are set between 286--290 RPM which is the range allowed. Not one of the three drives will work -- I have set up each as drive 1 with the other two off line to make sure and not one will consistently load up. Is there a magic RPM that SynCalc likes? Like maybe the high end (290 RPM) or the low end (286 RPM) or some other RPM? If there is anyone from Synapse on the line, I would appreciate something from the horse's mouth, as it were. Letters to Synapse, so far anyway, have elicited zero response. Thanks in advance, --Bill Dippert-- tektronix!tekigm2!wrd
