My Dad bought Micro Illustrator for his Radio Shack PC clone, but later found out the only printer they support are $1600 ink jet ones! This seemed patently ridiculous to me, since the print image is stored on a file and the format of the file is known to some oftware. Why couldn't it be interpreted by a program and sent to a dot matrix printer. After all, on a monochrome screen, it' only pixels. Can anyone tell me the format of the print file? I am assuming that Micro Illutrator files are compatible across systems (and that the same is true of their print file). On the other hand, maybe the data file itself should be the one decoded. Anyone know THAT format? That one should be even more compatible across systems, and I know there are programs that can manipulate THOSE files. Thanks in advance. Walt (Lazear at Mitre.arpa)
