[net.micro.atari8] Atari Ramdisk Boards

"trm:rochx2:xerox.ns"@XEROX.COM (05/12/86)

Does anyone know anything about the new Ramdisk boards for the
800 that are being advertised in Analog magazine. Two outfits are
selling them, Eclipse in Sunnyvale Ca. and Magna Systems in NYC.
Same boards? Any infor or experiences would be appreciated. I
have OMNIVIEW installed that has Axlon handlers built in.
Supposedly these boards are Axlon compatible. If David Young is
listening, maybe he can comment on the compatibility.

Although I have not yet used the Ramdisk boards by Magna Systems in NYC,
I am a personal friend of Tony Dobre, who makes the boards, and have spoken
to him several times about their capabilities. They are 100% AXLON
compatible and range in capacity from 256K, 512K, and 1MB. Although the
board is the same in each case, it must be configured at the factory for
a nominal fee if an upgrade is desired.

The ramdisk handlers in OMNIMON and OMNIVIEW should support up to 256K.
They will have to be modified to support the larger capacities fully. I
will probably do this when I get a hold of a board.
