[net.micro.atari8] He's Fired, She's Hired

Last night, CBS broadcast the made for TV movie "He's Fired, She's Hired."
While it is obviously a pilot for a new series, what I found fascinating was
for the first time someone used a computer that was not an Apple nor an
IBM! What did we see but the hero doing wordprocessing on a little old
Atari XL series computer! They never showed a good enough closeup to
determine whether it was an 800XL or a 1200XL, but from what I could see
it looked like an 800XL. In one scene could also be seen an Epson printer
and an Atari 850 Interface. Any ideas as to whose monitor it was? It
looked something like a Commodore 1702, except that it was black rather than
tan. For those non-Atarians, the program being run was Atariwriter (or
possibly Atariwriter +, there not being enough clues -- at least I could
not tell) which is Atari's wordprocessing program. And incidentally does
an excellent job, I wish I could find as good a wordprocessor for the IBM
XT!

I was surprised, also, to see an 800XL in a department store advertisement
of a computer desk (Hecht's or Sears, as I recall).

A bit like "Star Trek", more popular *after* production than before...

As I recall, there is a scene in Captain Kirk's home on Earth (in Star Trek III)
with an apparently chrome plated Commodore Pet in the background... Shades of
the good ol' Vic-20 days! }-)
