One the subject of writing a sequel if the publisher wants one...
Douglas Adams once explained the reason behind the 6th and 7th episode
of the original Hitchhiker's Guide. It seems they only wrote one
seasons worth, and after that they killed off all the main characters.
When the BBC requested additional stories, the writers cooked
up the sceme of time-dropping and the ancient earth with kangaroo drive
and saved the characters from the final curtian.
This was not too noticable in the final release over here.
