[net.micro.atari8] Atari Printers

Thanks for your suggestion regarding NLQ printers. I hadn't looked at
them for quite a while, and they've gotten a lot closer to LQ than the last
time I looked. I saw the Panasonic line at one of the local department stores
in Nashua, NH, but ended up ordering a Smith-Corona D200 from Computer Direct
in Barrington, IL (312-382-5050). They had them on sale for $159 +$14.50
shipping/handling ($29 if shipped to Canada). You can call the same number to
order one of their free catalogs. They claim delivery in 7 to 10 days (we'll
see - I just ordered it today). The printer comes with a one-year "immediate
replacement" warranty, which was also attractive.

While I was at it, I also ordered 5 boxes of Fuji 5 1/4" floppies, since
they had boxes of 10 for $4.90 (1S2D). I'll let the list know how Computer
Direct works out; some of their prices seem reasonable, whereas others don't
(printer ribbons for MX-80 for $12.99, when I can go to the department store
and get them for $9.99).
