As promised I am making OmniCom available to the net. This is a VT100/Kermit/XMODEM package that is designed to work with my 80 column enhancement OMNIVIEW. For serious mainframe users this program has much to offer over any other communication program. The VT100 emulation is superior to any other terminal emulator for the ATARI. The only one that is even in the same league is VT10SQ and OmniCom's VT100 has a much better character set (thanks to OMNIVIEW), its output is faster (scrolling is twice as fast), it supports inverse video, the keyboard map can be completely customized and supports key macros up to 17 characters, it can generate BREAK, and it is very configurable (all communication parameters, screen colors, etc.). Also, instead of having to load a different program to do XMODEM or Kermit, they are both built right in. I am particularly proud of my Kermit because it is more robust than any other implementation I have ever seen. What makes it so robust is how persistent it is when the remote computer is running in server mode. If a file transfer fails because of transmission problems it will start over and keep retrying that file until it finally succeeds. This is especially important when transferring a large number of files at once with wildcards. Here on ISID we have a directory called <DUMMY> which can be logged onto without a password. Thus you can logon to ISID with FTP and fetch the OmniCom files from this directory. Login is accomplished by "LOG ANONYMOUS GUEST" followed by "CONN DUMMY". The two files are OC.OBJ and OC.DOC. You will probably have to do something like "SET TYPE TENEX" on your FTP to get the binary to transfer correctly. The files are 11854 and 25515 bytes long respectively. Although I am releasing OmniCom to the net members, it is not a public domain program. Please do not distribute it any further. Please report any bugs, comments, or additional desired features directly to me. David Young DYOUNG@D.ISI.EDU -------
