[net.micro.atari8] 800XL and 130XE Difference ???

rmrin@inuxa.UUCP (D Rickert) (09/29/86)

Hello ATARI,
Does Syncalc know the difference
between an 800XL and a 130XE?
Would I get faster execution on the
XE or a bigger spreadsheet?
Same question for ATARIWRITER.
Thanks. ihnp4!inuxa!rmrin

The 130xe version of Syncalc gives you more cells, than the older
version. The 130xe version can run an the older machines.

I can't speak about SynCalc, but AtariWriter+ most definitely knows the
difference between the 800XL and the 130XE. The disk on which AW+ is shipped
contains the 800XL version on one side and the 130XE on the other. The 130XE
version, according to the manual, uses the bank switching facilities of the
XE to give you 3 buffers of ~15K characters each, as opposed to the ~12K buffer
you get on the 800XL.
