[net.micro.atari16] more 1st word problems

D01@PSUVM.BITNET (03/21/86)

I've had two problems with 1st Word that I could use some help with.
First, is there a way of turning off the automatic formfeed when one
prints a document? It's a minor annoyance wasting a blank sheet of
tractor-fed paper, but it's a major one when using single sheets.
I've solved this by converting files to standard ASCII (non-WP),
and then printing from the desktop, but this is a major bummer.

Also occasionally I find I can insert page breaks but can't get
rid of them by clicking the mouse on them. Has anyone else had
      this problem?

Otherwise I love 1st Word. I think the method it uses to get
Greek letters and math symbols is the best I've come across.

I too am a 1st Word fan and have experienced the same problems you have,
but like you don't consider them major problems.

I have come up with a major problem though. I haven't printed out a
copy of the guide.doc that comes with 1st Word since I just load it
and read it on the screen if there is something I can't figure out
without it. Well, last week I loaded the guide and found
the file I was editing right in the middle out it. I hadn't done any disk
swapping (which seems to wreak havoc with TOS) or anything else funny.
Somehow, the file (prolog.doc) just got saved in the middle. So I put
a fresh copy of the guide on the work disk and went on working on prolog.doc.
The next time I looked at guide.doc, the same thing happened again.

Fortunately, only the Guide (that is backed up) was crashed, but this is
a cause for worry since I don't know when it might occur. Also, I wonder if
it is a bug in TOS (considering my past experiences with swapping disks and
having the old disk's directory written on the new disk). Has TOS in ROM
solved this problem?

Another thing, how do you get 1st Word to double space?
