In part answer to my own question about the screen size on the monochrome moniter: yes atari meant for the viewing area to be smaller than the physical screen size. However, there is a rather straight-forward way of fixing this which is described the April '86 issue of ST Applications. If you can't get a copy and want to know how to do it, I'll email (or post, depending on whether there are more than 3 mono systems around) a summary. BTW, this fix voids your warrenty (so what doesn't?). Another question: The display on my mono moniter becomes "jittery" after the system has been on for about 10-15 minutes. The problem disappears after another 10-15 minutes. ("Jittery" means that the horizontal hold appears to be off, pixels alternate between their proper location and one location to the right or left.) Any ideas or previous experience with this problem? Is it in the moniter or the ST? Should I consider this grounds to try and return the ST? (And get another, of course!) I saw a 1040ST this weekend. As a previous poster said, it makes a whining noise that I would find intolerable for more than a few minutes. Any explanations or fixes? (Me, I'll have 1Meg after the warrenty on my 520 expires!)
