Have the ST hard disks been officially released yet? I hear bits of information about them, but haven't seen advertisements, etc. If they are not released yet, when will they be? If they are released, how much do they cost, how much do they hold, HOW FAST ARE THEY, and where can I get one? Any information at all would be great! Also, how about other companies' ST hard disks? Any good ones? Is there a tape backup system for the ST? (There are lots for the IBM & IBM mutations) Thanks, --- Bri -------

Price: $799 list. Capacity: 20 megabytes Speed (transfer rate): 7.5 megabits/second Availability: sometime in May, probably late in the month. And probably will be in short supply for the first while, like any new hardware product that EVERYONE wants. --->Neil @ Atari UUCP: ...lll-crg!vecpyr!atari!neil

I have been told that the drive is very fast, but I couldn't check it myself. > Any information at all would be great! Also, how about other > companies' ST hard disks? Any good ones? There were drives from ~20MB up to ~80MB, pricing from ~2300DM to ~4500 DM, but I can't remember the company. -Achim <loerke@infbs.uucp>

In a 1040 brochure, I picked up the other day, they mention the SH 324. This is a hard disk, 20 MB formatted, with controller, interface, and power supply in one box. Connection with the ST is through the DMA interface. On another page, they say something about a data transfer rate of 1.33 MB/sec However, I've not yet seen this thing in a shop. I've heard that the Haba disk is indeed available around here. A price of fl. 3000,-- was mentioned, so it should be available in the US somewhere around 1000 dollar. -- Frans Meulenbroeks until May 1, 1986: Philips Microprocessor Development Systems ...!{seismo|philabs|decvax}!mcvax!philmds!frans after May 1, 1986: Philips Distributed Realtime Multiprocessor System uucp: to be established soon; phildrm!frans?
