[double-sided line-eater? - HA! ] Hi, There has been some talk on this <net.micro.atari16> newsgroup about RF modulators on 520/1040 STs. I was a bit upset when I got my 1040 here in the UK, as it has no modulator or composite output. In fact, on the box it said 1040STFM, but the Ms had been carefully whited out all round the box. This was a particularly strong problem as, unlike all home computer mono monitors I had met until now, the Atari monitor does not even _try_ to do grey scales. This means that any software that requires a colour monitor will just not work - I still haven't even been able to start up the Neochrome program I got free. Is this really just a sneaky way for Atari to get people to buy their (admittedly good, but expensive) colour monitor, or is there some technical reason? What I would really like to know is can anyone help me with a circuit or a cheap source for a ST-RGB/PAL-RF modulator. All help appreciated. If anyone else is interested, let me know, and I'll summarise to the net. Cheers, Frank. -- Frank K Carver "In space ... no one can hear your laser sound-effect" Join the Group Against Gratuitous Acronyms (GAGA) NOW !
