Yes, Hitachi is making a CMOS 68000, named the HD68HC000; it sucks less than 35 mA at 12.5 MHz (according to a Preliminary data sheet dated Sept. 1985). The data sheet looks exactly like the 68000 data sheet, as far as I can see. The dude I talked to says they've been waiting forever for permission from Motorola to come out with this part, and finally got it after Motorola got the 68020 out. - Dan (kegel@juliet.caltech.edu)

I'm not sure about the Hitachi parts, that's a rumor that has been going around. There's no difference in spec, but possibly some internal/timing differences.
