From the rock'n'roll capital of the world -- Here's the final tally on 1040ST reliability. We took delivery on twelve machines. ALL twelve 1040's came up with no problems. NONE of the machines are overheating. A FEW of the machines generate enough switching supply noise to be annoying. ONE of the monitors arrived damaged -- the only DOA -- and probably due to mishandling. (Some glass shards were found at the bottom of the plastic bag and the tube "looks wierd.") This is not to say that some folks are hallucinating their problems. However, the occurrence of the overheat or disk drive problems may only apply to a statistically small number of units and should not be overhyped. I am sympathetic to the individuals with these problems and hope that Atari (or whom ever) will help them out PRONTO! -- paul drongowski decvax!cwruecmp!pjd case western reserve university pjd%Case@CSNet-relay
