Has anyone in netland found a way to use surplus 8 bit Atari's for printer buffers, either for other 8 bit Atari's or for 16 bit ST's??? It would seem to me that somehow the joystick ports could be used to connect spare 1200XL's or 800XL's and give a very nice 64k printer buffer. For my own requirements, I want to be able to use a 64k 1200XL to act as a printer buffer for either a 130XE (128k), 800XLE (256k) or 1200XLE (256k) 8bit computers -- connected to either a 1027 printer directly or thru an 850 interface to a centronics parallel printer port. I am certain that for either 8 or 16 bit applications, some form of software driver would have to be written, hopefully the electronics would be no more than connecting two joystick ports together. Thanks in advance, --Bill--
