I've just heard a rumour that Unix will be available on 1040 ST's by about
the end of this year. Can anyone on the net confirm or deny this ??

Yes indeed,
As I understand the situation at the end of this year/start of next
a new machine - the EST - will become available. This has the 68020, a blitter
and a better graphics chip giving 4096 colour pallette.
It will run all properley written ST software, and proberbly be
supplied with unix as well. (unix would not work well on just the 68000 without
a lot more memory and hard disk)

Can we get any confirmationm from Atari on this one? If not, can we at
least get some more rumors from Atari people? Also, can we hear
something more about the cheap laser printer I heard was in the works?

This came out of Sam Trammel interviews in ST USER (issue 3 i think) and
ATARI USER (June issue). ---- from the horses mouth.
