[net.micro.atari16] Anyone got a better TERMIO>C

jdg@elmgate.uucp (Jeff Gortatowsky) (05/27/86)

I've got sereral (or maybe one) versions of uemacs working the ST now but
all suffer from one major mis-feature. When you scroll, the status line
goes 'winging' on up the screen (delete lines) then heads back down to the
bottom (insert lines). This is so annoying to me that I just put the disk
away and went back to using MegaMax's editor (which is REAL pain as well).
Has anyone put ST specific screen IO into a uemacs?

Speaking of MegaMax's editor.... does anyone else feel that when you use
CURSOR keys, it's the *CURSOR* that should move? In case you haven't seen
this *GEM* of an editor (pun intended) the cursor keys move the screen,
leaving the text cursor where ever it happens to be. And that includes
when the cursor is OFF the screen!! The ONLY way the position the cursor
is to point and 'click'. Hunky dory aye?
Sheesh.....
Anyone recommend a really great editor... like one that allows lines > 80
columns 8^).

The best editor Ive found is the GST editor (available seperately or with any
GST products). It is a full GEM based editor that can edit up to 4 file, and
even cut and paste between them. It alows long line (>80, I think about150).

It has a help menu available and very good PRINTED (ie not disk file)
instructions.

The only complaint I have about it (does any GST employee monitor the net)
is that there is no GOTO line number in it.
