Has anyone used the Megamax C compiler? How about a review. John

Forgive me if this has been discussed before. Does anyone have Megamax C? If so, what are it's pluses and minuses? Documentation? Does it come with additional utilities (make,editor,command-shell,etc.)? Thanks in advance -- thomas r. erbe {ucbvax,ihnp4,akgua,hplabs,sdcsvax}!sdcarl!tre

I've just started using the Megamax C compiler. From what little I've used it so far, I think I'm going to like it a lot. I was wondering if any other users had encountered any bugs or other "gotchas" that it'd be useful to know about? You know, the kind that have you beating your head against the wall until you finally figure out what in the heck is going on. I've found one of these regarding makefiles. I followed the example on page 4-3, and tried running it from their shell. I kept getting an "I can't find that file" error. I figured I was doing something wrong, but I finally figured out that their example is wrong. If your makefile ends with a link command (optional), the link command has to be "mmlink.ttp ...", NOT "mmlink ..." as stated in the manual. I also fully agree with the earlier posting about cursor movement in their editor. I think it's crazy to have to reach for the mouse to move the cursor up one line! (ALL cursor movement requires the mouse. The cursor keys scroll the WINDOW, leaving the cursor in the same place!) Anyone else have experiences to relate? ======================================================== Wayne Vucenic ...{ucbvax, ihnp4, allegra, decvax}!hplabs!well!wvucenic ========================================================
