From: sher I have recently (in the past few months) read Yendi, Jhereg (sp?), and To Reign in Hell. My micro review of SZKB's writing is Steven Brust writes like Larry Niven trying to write like Roger Zelazney (sp?), and succeeding. To expand on this the plot structure seems to be reminiscent of Larry Niven's work but the sentence structure reminds me of Roger Zelazny. Considering them indepently of sf-context they are all good read's though TRiH is not as good as the others (Trying to write about simple minded (in the sense that their minds are not complicated) characters results in simplistic characters). In other words TRiH attempts the impossible and almost (but not quite) gets away with it. From the barely literate ramblings of David Sher sher@rochester seismo!rochester!sher
