I've had no problems with my Avatek 1200 yet. My local dealer has hd failures on two out of ten units sold, both of which tested bad using the onboard diagnostic. Hopefully working ones stay working. All in all, I'm very happy with mine. I've also settled on a trminal program. I'm using AnsiGraf from Grafikon and have been very impressed so far. No glaring bugs so far. I haven't tested the file off-loading stuff yet or screen dumping. The great thing about this program is that it supports Tek4014 graphics viewable simultaneously with a text screen running as a vt102. My only problem so far has been setting up my local software to do the screen switching properly. It doesn't appear possible to do this to the terminal program. I'm not complaining. Of the so-called vt100 emulators that I've seen, this one is hte best. All of the nifty screen editors work, and the graphics display looks really sharp on the 520st. Also, I really like terminal emulators that use bright letters on a dark screen. I should mention that I'm using this in monochrome but it is supposed to work in colour too. It cost 79 dollars sug. ret. but appears worth the price. I've tried Flash and ST-term and the GEM interface in AnsiGraf puts both to shame. I'll see if I can find any bugs and post them if I do. peter lorraine (qbzj@cornella)
